Chateau Clos Chaumont is the story of a wine passionate and two families united in effort and friendship. In the early 90’s, the Dutch Pieter Verbeek bought the nearly abandoned property out of a wish to produce his own wine.

Why Clos Chaumont? It’s simple! The beautiful residence, its unique panorama and of course its exceptional soil on the hillsides of the Garonne river offer the perfect package for high quality.

With the assistance of Viviane and Didier Ginelli and through hard work, the place was restored in honour to what nature created. Then, under the guidance of Kees van Leeuwen, our first consulting oenologist, the first vintage was born. This happened in 1994. Ten years later, Hubert de Boüard de Laforest, co-owner of Chateau Angelus, took over the consulting and is, since then, signing our labels by applying his “Grand Cru touch”.

Over the years and with the help of the entire team, Clos Chaumont became one of the prides of the Cadillac Cotes de Bordeaux appellation with wines that are regularly awarded both nationally and internationally.

Today, Pieter’s children have taken up the torch and are continuing the work of their father.
